What makes a good blog
From
the blogs of my colleges last semester I preferred those that are
cohesive and coherent. This means that the blog is a united whole,
and the contents is presented logical and well organized. I liked to
read a topic sentence at the beginning, and I soon want to know what
the blog is all about. If the blog is lost in details, the reader
will soon loose his interest. So the blogger must not loose his or
her track. Concrete facts are more interesting than general
statements. And there should be still given important information in
the last sentences, before the blog ends with a summarizing sentence.
For the reader it should be worth while to read the post until the
end.
Language-wise
it may happen that the blogger is not sure, whether a sentence is
written in correct English. In this case I recommend the blogger
first to use a translator algorithm, like Google translator or
pons.eu. If the blogger still has the feeling that the suggested
sentence is not correct, he could try it with the website
Antimoon.com/Correct English search: The blogger should fill in the
blank space and the website will show him, whether and how the
questionable sentence is used in other contexts. This will help him
or her.
As an example I want to name Julia Smoky´s blog "smokysworld.posterous.com". Her posts usually catch my interest in her topic sentence and the posts keep interesting during the whole text. And suitable to the text she puts videos, maps and photos to the posts. So finally I hope this will help the blogger to find many followers among his or her colleges.
